The Senior Living CaRES Fund was established in recognition of the extraordinary efforts of senior living sector employees whose passion, commitment and resilience while caring for the most vulnerable – especially in the face of the devastating effects of COVID-19 – has been nothing short of heroic. Over these past two years, they continued to provide compassionate care to seniors.
In 2022, the Senior Living CaRES Fund will distribute up to 100 bursaries, each worth $2,500, to front-line senior living sector employees (casual, part-time or full-time) of a senior living operator in Canada to pursue relevant post-secondary educational opportunities to advance their careers.
Senior Living CaRES Fund
The Fund was founded in May 2020 by Chartwell Retirement Residences, Revera Inc., Extendicare and Sienna Senior Living who mobilized together to create and finance the Fund. It was launched with a two-million-dollar donation from its founding partners.
In 2021, the Fund welcomed Southbridge Care Homes as a Platinum sponsor and OMNI Health Care as a Gold sponsor and received financial support from the RBC Foundation and the Canadian Alliance to Protect and Equip Seniors Living.
The Fund is providing bursaries worth $2,500 each to employees pursuing post-secondary education opportunities relevant to the sector.
Applicants must be a front-line employee (casual, part-time or full-time) of a senior living operator in Canada, employed for at least three months at a long-term care or retirement home as of the application date,.
Front-line employees of any senior living operator are eligible to apply for bursaries from the Fund.
As a registered charity, the Fund continues post-COVID-19 with its mandate to support employees in Canada’s senior living sector.
